woah. what a currrAAzzy weekend!
first off a huge WELCOME to the miracle that is Rishi Ray Graham.

here is the story.

friday night at 3am (i guess that is technically saturday morning) i got a phone call from rebecca that her water had broken. (her due date was dec 18) holy shit! tom and i drove over to oakland and made it to bex's house about the same time as amol (baby daddy and bex's friend/boyfriend/exboyfriend/parent-partner?....dunno what to call him) we had some cheerios. and then we went to kaiser sf.

i used to think kaiser was pbbbt, but i hafta say i was impressed with most of our experience there! my a-1 favorite feature was the non-existent visitor policy. so while we waited (and waited and waited) for the labor inducing drugs to do their thing, we basicaly had a party. "bring it on" was on tv (twice!). there was uno. saturday afternoon, labor was starting but then it decided to stop again. boogers. sunday we tried again, and this time shit went down. the intense stuff was from 6pm until about 3am....and it. was. intense. i am SO impressed and just in awe of what our bodies can do. rebecca was a warrior. i mean, this shit IS primal as fuck.
finally at 3am, bex got an epidural. (i will be getting mine pretty much as soon as i get pregnant, if possible)

we all slept and then woke up two hours later to a very dialated cervix and some baby hair sticking out of bex (so the docs said...not visible to my non-phd eye)
now this was the coolest part for sure. bex made it seem so easy-peasy. watching him come out was truly awesome. i will never forget that experience. of course we all balled (er, maybe just me and sarah starpoli (bex's friend visiting from NY) did) he was fucking perfect. he IS fucking perfect. (until he is about 2, that is ;)

i am so in love with him. i can't wait** to have my own.

i got the blog itch again. i was promiscuous with hallie's blog yesterday, so i will blame it on her.

i gotta say, reading some of my previous posts made me worry about my self a little, so i am back and am ready to chronicle the goings-on of my life with the happy flappy-ness that has permeated me lately. i know the sad will come sometimes, but i'm excited to share some of the cool beans shit that is happening right now!

like...the possibility of teaching for rhythm and motion (R&M)! i heart those classes and would LOVE to teach them. the head honcho of R&M watched me take a class friday, and i felt really great about it. she would be a fool to not want me teaching for her. i'm just sayin. AND if i tought at ODC, i would buy a bike and ride to class! YEAH!

1. tom got called up onstage and had to announce to everyone that his favorite childhood stuffed animal was called "lamby pie". i can't do the hilarity of the situation justice here.

2. every time the magician would pick a new volunteer, the volunteer would state their name, and then the audience would say "hiiiii *insert name here*"
so this beefy man was picked, and he said his name was "men"......silence for a few seconds, and then he said "actually it's rick, i just wanted everyone to say 'hi men'"

i came face to face with the capital f last night....i thought maybe i could do this dance project for rebecca and it would be ok. i really wanted it to be ok, and i especially was looking forward to hanging out. but then i started out super cranky, and then "YOU'RE NOT A PROFESSIONAL DANCER ANYMORE" stomped on my toe, spat in my face and ran off giggling. i had to go. i'm sorry bex. and i'm sorry self...i would never say such terrible things to anyone else.
the good news is, i assume it will only get easier with time.

metallica opened their bridge school benefit set with a cover of "i just want to celebrate". i wonder what their hard core fans thought? honestly, they seemed a little christian rock band-ish to me.
for me, the highlight of the evening was regina spektor and my morning jacket. and of course the kids. the bridge school serves children with severe physical impairments, and there were several of the students onstage throughout the whole event.i cried at least four or five times. regina spektor was really the awesomest-est because she sang towards the kids mostly, and she seemed very humbled to be there. i liked that. plus, she's cute as can be (and is now on tom's "list")(!!!)

Mission

We Feel Fine is an exploration of human emotion on a global scale.

Since August 2005, We Feel Fine has been harvesting human feelings from a large number of weblogs. Every few minutes, the system searches the world's newly posted blog entries for occurrences of the phrases "I feel" and "I am feeling". When it finds such a phrase, it records the full sentence, up to the period, and identifies the "feeling" expressed in that sentence (e.g. sad, happy, depressed, etc.). Because blogs are structured in largely standard ways, the age, gender, and geographical location of the author can often be extracted and saved along with the sentence, as can the local weather conditions at the time the sentence was written. All of this information is saved.

The result is a database of several million human feelings, increasing by 15,000 - 20,000 new feelings per day. Using a series of playful interfaces, the feelings can be searched and sorted across a number of demographic slices, offering responses to specific questions like: do Europeans feel sad more often than Americans? Do women feel fat more often than men? Does rainy weather affect how we feel? What are the most representative feelings of female New Yorkers in their 20s? What do people feel right now in Baghdad? What were people feeling on Valentine's Day? Which are the happiest cities in the world? The saddest? And so on.

The interface to this data is a self-organizing particle system, where each particle represents a single feeling posted by a single individual. The particles' properties – color, size, shape, opacity – indicate the nature of the feeling inside, and any particle can be clicked to reveal the full sentence or photograph it contains. The particles careen wildly around the screen until asked to self-organize along any number of axes, expressing various pictures of human emotion. We Feel Fine paints these pictures in six formal movements titled: Madness, Murmurs, Montage, Mobs, Metrics, and Mounds.

At its core, We Feel Fine is an artwork authored by everyone. It will grow and change as we grow and change, reflecting what's on our blogs, what's in our hearts, what's in our minds. We hope it makes the world seem a little smaller, and we hope it helps people see beauty in the everyday ups and downs of life.

i hafta apologize in advance.....i'm not going to be around much for the next month.
it's unfortunate, becuase i reeeaaallllly need my friends right now, but tom and i are realizing just how much time it takes to get all the last minute wedding stuff done....so this is our last pull, our final stretch. please keep calling me and asking me to do stuff even if i can't. i need to feel wanted by y'all still, i just can't be as present of a friend as i would like. i should prolly have this conversation face to face with the nearest and dearest, but i figured a blog post was a good start.
anyway, i love all, and i need you. thank you for being there for me.

l.a. was exhausting. it was fun and dramatic and i stayed up late and puked three times outside of spaceland(not from drinking, but from panic??) and i bonded with most of the girls and i had some great conversations and did lots of dancing. i need a break from fake eyelashes.

on crying and opera news

i cry a lot. it feels good. sometimes i cry in public. i had a crying fit (well, not a 'fit' really, more of a 'spell') on monday.
i went to the gyno to get a colposcopy.
i also got a biopsy....there were a few complications with that and so the doc was fiddling around up there for a long time. anyway, i went out to the receptionist to make a follow-up appointment, and felt really dizzy and hot, like i was going to pass out. i sat down in a nearby chair, and felt pain in my tummy. i started to cry, and i had a hard time stopping. i was a little amazed that the three other women in the waiting room didn't look up from their magazines to ask if i was ok. neither did the receptionist. how sad! i suppose some people would feel like saying anything would be intruding? anyway, i felt better after several minutes, and left.
i will of course let my friends know the results of the biopsy when i know!
being a girl is hard! ;)

also, there have been some changes with the rock opera...changes i am psyched about.
unfortunately the venue we were going to be performing in has been sold, so now it looks like we'll be focusing more on the music and just doing the show in clubs. i think the music is the strongest part anyway, so bully for us! this also take a lot of the stress out of it, not having to put choreography on the remainder of the pieces....and, i still get to hang out with these cool people once a week and sing my heart out!

tom and i stopped to buy a display map of paris on our way to dinner ($6!! and it shows where we got engaged!) (the map, not dinner silly!)
....i can't believe this gem of a store has been right under my nose!
anyway, i saw sooo many pieces of jewelry that could work for the wedding. really gorgeous stuff...the kind of pieces that i imagined in my head but couldn't find.
reasons i should return my pearls and get jewelry here:
1. it's local artists
2. the (female) owner is tall and asked me where i buy my pants
3. the owner said she read the clutter clearing book that i loved (and it changed her life!)
4. the jewelry is f'in AWESOME
5. there are no full returns, only returns for store credit, BUT owner said i could leave a credit card, take a few pieces home to try on with my dress and bring them back the next day! hello small town service! (HEART)

just getting around to watching this weeks's so you think you can dance episodes and i have two things to say.

#1: the whole ricky/ashley height thing struck a nerve with me (duh). "ashley looks so much bigger" "dancing david and goliath" ouch. i didn't think she was as good as others, but i wanted to see ricky move on.

needless to say i was feeling super duper white trash and it felt like a good time to get rid of it.

ive let the holes up my ears grow over as well as my nose ring. i'm scared of seeming average or too normal and since tattoos are too permanent, for a long while the holes satiated the desire to be different.

i have to say that when i see someone with a nose ring i assume they're cool.

i was initially disappointed by THE finale, but am more ok with it now.
at first i likened it to how i like to be a dancer, not a choreographer...i mean, if i wanted to make up my own thing i would go ahead and be a choreographer wouldn't i? and i don't want to be a tv writer, so don't make me make up my own damn ending! YOU tell me what you intended!

on the bright side, this frees up sunday nights to be movie night*! we have gotten behind on our netflix!

tom and i went down to vegas thursday through saturday to surprise my friend kate from college. her friend christine accidently spilled the beans, booo, but it's ok. i have successfully planned surprise visits to see kate on two different occasions, so i can't get selfish.
we had a great time lounging at the pool, sipping cocktails (my two drink limit and no cigs practice were both temporarily postponed).....we saw cirque du soleil "zumanity" (billed as the "sensual side" of c.d.s.) there were lots of boobies and sexual jokes.....my favorites were the fishbowl girls. it was interesting to watch the average joe's of middle america freak out about anything h.e. (homoerotic)......that is, anything with male/male sexuality (two men actually got up and left when the m.c.-a tranny- started to approach them!) there was of course, lots of food, and lots of gambling, and i feel like i did a pretty good job of staying up fairly late!

it was sooooo good to see kate and mike!!! hooorayyy!!!!!

-running into an ex (surprisingly just fine!)

i got to hang out with some awesome friends of tommy's saturday, and reconnect with my old friend kat sunday.....but it feels like forever since i've seen the majority of my girlfriends!
